Help people surface past knowledge they've saved

At the moment (on the web app at least), there is no way to tell whether an item has been added to a collection or my library without opening my library first. It would be better if there was some visual feedback (like making the icon for adding a checkmark, or turning it green) for when I have already added something to my library.

I love the presentation of books and the highlights from them. Especially the last line of a highlight, where the book and author are linked back. I guess they are generated from Readwise or kindle. I do not use this software. I use the open epub format and moonreader. Can I also create books and add highlights manually? Maybe it is possible already.
